The Sustainable Business Leader Program (SBLP) was designed to meet the unique needs & challenges of small-to-medium size businesses in their pursuit to become more environmentally sustainable by providing technical assistance that is affordable, actionable, and actionable.
Who We Are
We are concerned citizens and business owners just like you. Our goal in creating this program is to assist small to medium size business owners who recognize the importance of making environmentally sustainable improvements but that are often too busy and lacking the resources or time to research alternative practices
What We Do
We work with you. Our mission, through our six-step program, is to identify viable environmentally sustainable updates and the pair you with the tools and resources to make those changes happen. An SBLP coordinator conducts a Sustainability Assessment in six areas:
- Energy Efficiency
- Water Conservation
- Recycling and Waste Reduction
- Transportation
- Pollution Prevention
- Sustainability Management
Based on recommendations from the Sustainability Assessment, each business creates a Sustainability Action Plan (SAP). Upon successful completion of the Sustainability Action Plan, the business is designated a Sustainable Business Leader.

Being business owners ourselves, we know that with the day-to-day issues of running a business, sometimes-critical ideas, like creating sustainability management initiatives, can fall to the bottom of the list.
