The Sustainable Business Network of Boston, Cambridge Local First and GoGreen Somerville announce the Cambridge/Somerville launch of the Sustainable Business Leader Program (SBLP), a sustainability initiative for small to medium-sized businesses.
The SBLP was formed in 2008 by collaboration between the Department of Environmental Protection and the Boston Redevelopment Authority, and has since worked with more than 50 businesses in Boston and Cambridge to become environmentally sustainable leaders.
These businesses are committed to dramatically reducing their carbon footprint through SBLP’s comprehensive program, which covers everything from waste reduction, water and energy conservation, green technology, transportation and pollution prevention. In addition, each business will create a Green Team amongst its staff to enact these changes and uphold sustainability as part of company mentality.
The program kicked off Oct. 28 with the following local businesses: Downtown Wine and Spirits, Griffin Properties, Gentle Giant, Henry Bear’s Park, Irving House, TAGS Hardware, Taza Chocolate, Vim Fitness Spa and Salon, and Zing Café and Pizza.
